Expert Masonry Solutions Crafted for Durability and Precision
A Tradition of Quality Craftsmanship
Masonry is a trade where experience matters. Proper material selection, preparation, layout, installation, and finishing all play an important role in creating work that is built to last. I approach each project with the same philosophy: do the job right, use quality materials, and stand behind the work you do.
Whether the project involves a custom stone feature, a masonry repair, restoration of existing work, or a complete new masonry installation, I bring decades of practical experience to every job.
I also understand that masonry in Alaska comes with unique demands. Weather, seasonal conditions, material availability, and the characteristics of local construction all need to be considered when planning and executing quality work. My years working in Alaska have given me firsthand experience with these challenges and the importance of building accordingly.
Local Experience. Personal Service.
After decades in the trade, I still believe that good work starts with good communication. I take the time to listen to what the customer is looking for, evaluate the project, and provide an honest assessment of what can be done.
Whether you have a clearly defined project or simply have an idea you’d like to explore, I’m happy to discuss it. My goal is to make the process straightforward while delivering craftsmanship that you can be proud of for years to come.
If you have a masonry project in Southcentral Alaska, I’d appreciate the opportunity to take a look at it. Give me a call or reach out today to discuss your project and see how I can help.
Built on Experience. Grounded in Craftsmanship.
If you’re looking for an experienced mason in Southcentral Alaska, I’d be glad to hear from you.
My name is Mike Gillis, and I’ve called Alaska home since 1981. I’m a third-generation stone mason with over 30 years of hands-on experience in the trade. Masonry has been more than a profession for me—it’s a craft that has been passed down through generations, built on knowledge, attention to detail, and pride in the finished product.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a wide range of residential and commercial masonry projects throughout Alaska. This experience has allowed me to develop a strong specialty in custom stonework, traditional masonry craftsmanship, restoration, and new construction. Every project presents its own challenges, and I believe the best results come from taking the time to understand the structure, the materials, and the goals of the customer before the work begins.
Custom Masonry for Alaska
No two projects are exactly alike. I enjoy working with homeowners, contractors, builders, and property owners to develop masonry solutions that are both functional and visually distinctive.
From custom stonework and architectural features to structural masonry, restoration, repairs, and new construction, my goal is to provide work that complements the property while delivering the durability and performance expected from professional masonry.
I take particular pride in custom work because it allows the craftsmanship and character of the materials to become part of the finished design. Natural stone, brick, block, and other masonry materials each have their own characteristics, and understanding how to work with those materials is what turns a good installation into quality craftsmanship.
